Mood Board

Since the story of our film contains a combination of medical psychopaths, crime and law enforcement, we decided that the mood board should contain a series of pictures that remind of us of these features.

1)

The original moodboard

The original mood board (pictured above) was the initial idea at the start of the filming project. Since it was related to a psychopath doctor and murder, the immediate idea that came to mind was there should be plenty of images with mutilated body parts, blood, precision surgery tools and some form of psychological aspect (because the doctor might also be a psychologist).

The surgery tools on the top represent the doctor and his tools, while the on his side support the idea of surgery and organ removal. Often doctors who perform surgeries are associated with the removal of organs. They do this by using using various tools and equipment.
We also wanted to include the idea of a possible cannibalistic killer, hence the headlines from newspapers reporting stories of cannibalism.
I thought that the addition of the picture of rotten teeth would give us a more clear idea of eating with a mix of disgust.

The bloodied face image is indeed a very ghastly image that sends a clear message to anyone who sees it. The blood covered face signifies a movie that is filled or in the pictures case, 'covered' in blood and gore which was the intended message. This along with the image of throats being slit (just below, toward the left) do a good job of showing death and murder. The two bodies on top of each other also has meaning. It represents the piling of bodies onto one another or mass murder in other words.
The final image added that would solidify the idea of surgical procedures and killer doctors would be the face of the serial killer 'Leather Face', who is known for killing people and sewing their faces onto his own, to wear as a sort of trophy from his victims. The stitches on his face are very distinct and distorted, hence also sending out the suggestion of a psychopath. Finally, a renowned image of a hypnotic symbol used to hypnotize people would cement the idea of psychological danger, along wth the people who are strapped around it in a circle, symbolizing their fate and that they are in a circle that would not end.

Although this mood board was ideal for the original movie we had in mind, it had to be discarded as  our movies direction completely changed its direction due to our lack of satisfaction of what the movie would turn out to be.
